In late spring, the shrub is covered in a heavy blanket of pure white flowers with a bright yellow center. Before they open, the flower buds are a striking crimson-red, creating a beautiful two-tone effect against the green foliage. It is highly prized as a premium, low-maintenance groundcover for south-facing slopes, dry rockeries, or coastal banks where poor soil and intense summer heat cause other shrubs to wilt.
