Foliage is deciduous, emerging pink in spring and maturing to variegated creamy white and green. Leaves eventually turn yellow in fall and will drop quite late, perhaps October or November. Young stems turn reddish in winter. This tree enjoys damp soil and can be pruned often to retain its form.
